7 Tips to keep your skin hydrated!

Hydration is so important, it's how we help our bodies to flush out toxins and stay looking healthy and glow-y!

Here are some tips on how I keep my skin hydrated:

1) Drink between 1.5 - 2 litres of water a day!

Our bodies needs water to function and naturally detox. A good way to estimate your daily intake i is to use the guideline of 33 millimetres per kilogram that you weigh.

2) Eat Foods Rich in Omega 3 oils like Avocados, Wild Salmon and Organic Cold Pressed Olive Oil

Omega 3 oils are not only amazing for brain and gut health, but they have lots of benefits when it comes to your skin. Omega 3's are high in antioxidants and have high anti-inflammatory properties which help to add moisture to the skin and even slow down the ageing process!

3) Avoid Caffeine and Sugar

Caffeine really dehydrates you.. The more coffee you consume, the more dehydrated you will be.

Sugar, especially refined sugar, causes inflammation in the body and almost always shows up in our skin. I recommend to stick to 15 - 20 grams of sugar per day only.

4) Carry a Hydrating spray in your handbag!

I find this always gives my skin that hydrated glow, especially in the colder months! A mist spray or hydrating spray will simply make your skin look and feel fresher throughout the day. Check out my "Tips" section to find out how to make your own affordable one!

5) Get 8 hours of sleep a night Sleep is one of the most important things you can do for your skin. When we get enough sleep and rest properly, our stressor and electrolyte levels normalise and repair.

You want to be always be aiming for between 7 - 9 hours of sleep and getting to bed at a decent hour.

6) Avoid drinks high in sodium, even Mineral water!

Drinks high in sodium will leave you feeling and looking puffy, generally in the face and under they eyes. Sodium and carbonated drinks can often dehydrate you because they interfere with the normal electrolyte levels in your body. Drinking these drinks occasionally and in small amounts is fine but I would avoid drinking them too often.

7) Add 1 Tablespoon of Collagen powder to your smoothies

I add 1 Tablespoon of Collagen Powder to my smoothies and I absolutely notice the difference!

Collagen powder promotes a healthy gut and is high in protein which are both important building blocks for good skin.

By taking a Collagen supplement you are increasing the collagen production levels in your skin which decline as we get older.

The collagen powders that I love are The Beauty Chef, Vida Glow and Thankfully Nourished
